Yeah, and K-TRON said Voodoo send new replacements for faulty components, Dell and Alienware do that too, other brands too. You're telling me you're paying 3k more for the ability to get a new graphic card if yours goes faulty? My Dell Vostro 1500 keyboard was faulty, I got a new keyboard the next day!

You could build a desktop with a 2x higher 3Dmark06 score and all the latest stuff (Quad core, 9800Gx2 SLI, SSD boot drive, 1 TB HDD (2x500 GB RAID 0), Blu-Ray Burner, etc.) for about $3500

i guess voodoopc and those who buys into voodoopc have a big bullseye on their backs as being easy targets for these "WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU..." comments...

K-Tron... you have to admit, some of the more intelligent comments and posts here does make sense, when you look at it from their perspective... what we do get from voodoo is no different as the service we would receive from any other manufacturers of same caliber... (emphasis on "same caliber")

we are able to have a more "personal" relationship with some of the good folks at voodoo, this is true... but even in the modern era, where 9/10 of my other customer service calls starts off with a cringe, trying to understand the instructions given to me from Bangalore... voodoo's unique CS is amazing but, it can and probably does exist in other boutiques as well.

(btw, now even my bank sends me to Bangalore... what is NOT in there... i wonder...)

if you look at these comments and crits about such items that seems to be "luxurious" items, it is attacked basically from practicality and economics. in this matter, well, it is tough... you just cannot justify a mink coat, no matter how you look at it.

... it is hard to explain what it is about it... but perhaps it is the inexplicable and the intangible factor that makes us glad we purchased it...

but this is one argument i will not make based on economics...

sh!t, for once and for all... i like my laptop... it feels good... i am proud of it...

you provide me facts and absolute proofs that i am not feeling what i feel... then i will believe you.

    (edit)
by the way, if you will tell me what i could have done and what i could have done with my money... well... please remember... my money... my hard earned money that i spent on something that i am pleased with.

    but as for you...
yes, you did make a wise and economical choice...
and yes... it was good that you got money to spare to do what you did...

    grats.

peace everyone and have a nice day...

KGann, i buy my stuff from closeouts too... and honestly, LLBean makes a nice product for the price... better at closeouts again...
but then my Merchandiser, i keep telling him... this $300 jeans look too skinny and it's going to hurt his family jewels... but he still thinks he looks good in em... he still loves them... i just cant seem to knock any sense into him... so i just gave up... it must be HIS thing.... (hmm... sounds familiar, eh?)...

he wonders why he keeps getting hit on by certain "fashionable" men in the fashion society tho...

i think it's the skinny pants... he he he

Oh, the job thing. I was talking about a real job. I do not have one of those.
My hard earned money is made through my part-time landscaping business which I run on weekends. I am only 18, I am using my hard earned money which I made from my landscaping business to buy my computers. It did take quite some time to save enough money, but I do not regret it one bit. I am happy with my machine and it serves me well.

Voodoo is a great company. For me, I bought a desktop as I wanted to be on the cutting edge and yes it is more expensive than making your own, ofcourse because someone else is making it FOR you so there is labour cost, then there is the custom case, then the paint, then the after sales etcetc.

The argument people make like "Yeah i could have made that far cheaper, its a waste of money" doesnt make sense at all.

If someone was carrying a PRADA bag are u gonna tell him/her "Yeah I could have carried what youre carrying in a plastic bag"???

Function is one thing, Form is another. Function is easy to understand, yes my specs are this and that, yes it plays games simple. FORM is the crucial part because that is where the emotions come in. You switch on your ONE and ONLY computer, with a spectacular paint job, awesome case, and even a laser etched NAME plate, THAT makes a difference. Whether if thats worth paying for? that is up to you, it all depends on your priorities etc.

For me, I want to make computing as personal and enjoyable as possible and for that, I am willing to pay money and whenever I wake up and see my Omen sitting there, it makes me smile and what price can you put for putting a smile on someones face?

The only part where that doesn't hold up at all is the fact that Voodoo just sells rebranded Clevos and whatever - the same exact computers, down to the last drop, that you can get from other companies.

And no. If I met Paris Hilton, I'd probably just say "damn, you're a stupid *****".

    tsk, tsk, tsk...

firstly, why Paris of all the women out there?

Jessica Alba... now that's a woman worth referencing...

Lithus, have you ever owned something, despite what reason and your peers told you... you must have it?

I honestly thought it through and I can say that, no, no I haven't. All my large purchases are considered quite carefully, and I can't possibly remember all my small purchases (not like the small ones would matter much).

However, again, we're not comparing Ferrari's to Honda's here. I can completely understand why someone would want a Ferrari over a Honda - it performs better, has better style, and, well, it's a Ferrari.

Instead, we're talking owning a Honda with Voodoo written on it, versus owning a Honda with Sager written on it.

I mean, I have better things to worry about than other people's laptops, but I could never justify purchasing an item for twice the amount that I could have gotten it for somewhere else.

Yes, I agree, why mention her. I wish vehicular manslaughter wasnt a crime. My Pete could eat her in a heartbeat :D
I would never do something so terrible, I have not seen the blackdog yet

I dont think Jessica Alba is attractive at all,
    I know a woman worth referencing - Rozzie. She is gorgeous :p :D :p

the point is, is that everyone has a brand junkie in us. It even applies to the same thing down to a can of soda. Why by Pepsi for a few cents more than Coke? If you think about it, its exactly the same thing: carbonated flavored acidic water.

    1. $0000.02 vs $1234.56. Not quite the same comparison.
    2. Coke and Pepsi taste different. I don't have a preference, but I can easily tell the two apart.

The girl I like is way nicer, looks in females do not mean much to me. She is actually nice and pleasant to be with, unlike J. Alba, who is most likely a stuck up brat.

    QFT!

    K-Tron... dont start disrespecting Jessica...

so Lithus, we're comparing the Honda Civic to the "blinged" Fast and the Furious Civic... or those with the annoying fast sounding mufflers?

    ha ha ha...

No, but I think the girl I like/kinda having a relationship with, is way more attractive than Jessica Alba, and she is natural, and does not wear any makeup. Plain and nice, is what I like. The paint scheme on my Voodoo is a bit different, but its a computer, not a person.

Good God. I just read all thirteen pages of this marathon thread. Personally, I don't care what other people spend their money on, or their reasons for doing so. If K-Tron wants a $7,500 laptop, and he worked hard for it, more power to him. It's his money, right? In the end, all his hard work and effort in paying for that laptop is reflected in his purchase. He's the one that has to look at and use it. Whether or not it gives him a guilty conscience is his problem, not mine.

Me, I'm okay with not having the "best". I'm okay that I bought a HP dv6500t and even splurged on the Special Edition version. I don't neccssarily need a $7,500 laptop because I don't equate that expenditure as something that I must have or would like to have. However, I do have things that I would spend that kind of money on and have done so in the past.

I'm an avid trapshooter, and own several beautiful competition grade shotguns. Who's to say that it was wrong of me to buy a $5,000 Browning Citori or a $9,000 Beretta when I could have just bought a $100 Mossberg at Wal-Mart?

My point is that every one of us has their wants and needs. K-Tron wanted a $7,500 laptop (regardless if its re-badged or not) just like I wanted that Beretta shotgun. Regardless, I have found that expensive purchases once in awhile make life a bit more fun and entertaining. =)
