Best I could do. Was getting sub 12 second boots with a fresh install. Oh well-18 seconds won't kill me.

If you pick 1 'benchmark' and everyone uses that, you will get better representation of actual times I believe. Which is why i suggested Boottimer. Try it. Free and easy...

with my 80gb intel ssd drive on my 3 year old dv7, along with a couple (maybe 4-5) registry tweaks, my boot time is now 24 seconds according to boot timer.

I have the 80gb ssd as my primary drive and a 500GB WD drive as my second drive where i store all my crap.

I had ordered a newer DV7 late last year and installed the SSD into there. my mind was blown when a default install of windows (no registry tweaks) made the machine boot in 13 SECONDS FLAT!!! I returned that machine though because I honestly didn't need it :( i am happy as hell with my current dv7 that boots in 24 seconds.

Something between 26 and 40 seconds from pressing the power button to desktop.

I haven't restarted in 9 days and I don't feel like restarting just to figure it out.
