ok so here is the deal
i did not like all the bloatware and the long boots of xp so i created a custom xp cd with nLite, i followed Miner's sticky thread ^, anyways before i reinstalled xp i had another partition with windows Vista in it. and i remember that when ever i started up my notebook boot manager would pop up. now with the new xp install it just boots directly to windows xp. is there any way to get boot manager back, or at least access vista?

Try viewing Boot.ini at the default location "C:\boot.ini".
    Post what you see there.

yeah but i installed vista on D:

also about the vista upgrade disc
i dont think it offers repair for the home version, because i have another vista disc which is ultimate for my desktop and i could use it to repair my desktop. but when i tried the same disc for my notebook to do a repair nothing happened. it just took me straight to upgrade or install. same with the original upgrade disc that hp gave me. oh well ill just reinstall vista. anyways everything will be saved in windows old
