    where is the spdif out?

    i'm just found out my dv7-1170us has spdif out, but have no prior experience with it. i'd like to hook up a headphone amp via this option.

    It's in headphone jack #2. Unfortunately, you won't be able to use a standard optical cable with it. You'll need a 3.5mm to standard toslink cable or adapter.

    It should be the far right one. It was like that on my dv2000t, and I'm assuming they probably kept the setup the same over model updates, so I could be wrong... but you'll definitely know you hit the right one as soon as you plug it in and see a red light that appears at the end of the cable.
