If you're talking specifically dv6000t, hp.com is the only way to go, unless you use an outside company like Costco to customize it, but is usually more expensive. However, Costco has the 6 month return no questions asked thing going on so people prefer Costco. For pricewise, buying it straight from HP is best.
I don't know if you're a student or teacher or not, but you can use the APP discount that gives you like 6%+ discount on customizable laptops.
I just purchased one and my stats were similar to yours. However, I had Vista Basic and a Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHZ, which is superior to what you want. I paid $1090 for the laptop after discounts with only 512 MB of RAM, because I suggest you buy 2 gigs of RAM from other places. It is much cheaper, where I can get 2 gigs of RAM for $160 when it costs $225 on HP's site. Plus you get the 512 you can sell and get some cash back on. With the $160, $1090 + $160 = $1250 which is a SUPERB deal for a laptop with dedicated graphics, Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHZ 4MB L2cache T7200, 2 gigs of Ram, webcam, lightscribe, bluetooth... etc. Only thing is I got a 80 GB hard drive since I don't need much space. Don't forget tax though (shipping's free), which usually adds around $80.
Since you said cheapest price, this does NOT include any extended warranties and such, but only the 1 year default warranty.
Thus, expect to pay $1300 if you want the 2.0 GHZ which I'd urge since the double L2cache does indeed help a bit, and you can't upgrade it ever so you should get what can IMO. -
dv6000t and dv6000z models are "CTO", or "custom built to order". In stores you'll see them written as dv6xxxt or dv6xxxz. All the big national retailers carry those. I really suggest doing a CTO model since you get so much more control over what you want. You have to wait a week or two, but it's totally worth it.
If you're a student/educator, you can go through HP's Academic Purchase Program (APP) for an additional discount.
FWIW, the dedicated video card in the dv2000 is a joke. It's only 32MB of on-board memory, the rest is borrowed from system memory using TurboCache. It will run Vista, but it doesn't really play games at all. -
With the setup yo want the only place to get it is HP.com
