    Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo T2250 (1.73 GHz/2MB L2Cache)

    Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo T5200(1.60GHz/2MB L2Cache)

I don't need 64bit capability. Most probably I will run winxp. Which one is faster speedwise?

Either will do as long as you don't run any processor intensive applications. Evem if you do do run some processor dependant tasks, such as video editing or encoding, then they will perform roughly the same. In normal Windows tasks, like word processing and surfing the Internet, either is more than enough.

The C2D will be roughly 10% faster. But for most tasks, especially on WinXP, you will not notice any difference between the two.

About the same actually...though the T2250 might be a hair faster, but you won't notice the difference ever. If you're never going to upgrade from XP, get what costs less. Normally, the Core 2 is about 10% faster, but since the cache and FSB is the same, I think the performance will be about the same.
