I have a Compaq 620 almost 3 years old with Windows 7 Home premium
But recently the hard drive has been showing signs of failure and current I cannot boot windows from it
Now I am thinking of getting a new drive, but do not have much ideas about laptop hard drives
Which hard drive should I choose?
I do not want to get anything too expensive, a cheap to moderately priced one would be preferable.
I have also attached a picture of my old disk
Should I get a new one that is exactly same?
Do I need to worry about compatibility problems?

My first laptop's HDD failured and I repleaced it with western digital one. My old was Samsung HDD. So you can but whatever you want there. I bought SSD on my new laptop and I must say that I will never go back to HDD anymore. Where I see significant differences: Boot time, Windows updates, softwares opening time, virus scan, and there is many many other things where it saves time :). And SSD failure rate is minimal what I have heard. I paid around 80 € for 120GB and I must say even thought I could have had 500GB with same amount money. I dont care since speed what I have caught out of my current SSD is huge and I have used around 40GB of 120GB. If I have bought that HDD I would have over 400GB free space for nothing and laptop would have been slower than it is now.

SanDisk Extreme Solid State Drive (SSD)

    Happy SSD owner :)

Also if you storage movies/ pictues etc then I still recomed SDD and you can buy HDD docking station + cheap HDD. That would cost around 20€ for docking station and it really depends how much you need storage.
