hey guys, i have a question.. somehow the wifi switch on my hp dv2000 broke. i dont know how it happened, but it doesnt matter now as i cant use the internet because it is in off mode. i tried enabling it on device manager, but with no luck since i think its because it is still in the off position, and w/o the switch itself i cant manually switch back to the on posistion... anyone know how i can replace the switch? is it sold by hp, ebay, online retailer? is it an easy fix? and most importantly is it expensive? some crappy pics taken from my phone show the problem... thanx in advance guys...

If it's a problem with the external portion (the part you actually touch with your finger) it should be a relatively easy and cheap thing to fix... the problem would be actually finding the part. If you really don't care you could probably CAREFULLY epoxy it into place and let it go at that. If the actual switch is broken you may be out of luck unless you have some desoldering/soldering skills.

When you push on the switch do you feel any resistance (does it feel "normal")? If it does then it may be a difficult/expensive fix. If it feels "loose" then I think that would indicate that the problem may the simpler one of the two.

The actual switch behind the plastic slide is a small slide switch with a stem that is about 1.5mm square, 2-3mm long. Using a needle, insert it into the whole left behind the broken plastic and try to find that stem. If you feel the pin's head contact the small slide switch's stem, slide it to toggle to open position.

Once you get it to work, use the Wireless assistant to turn wifi on/off.
