    Hi all,

I am going to buy a HP DV1000 soon, but will some new spec very soon?

I read some sites that Intel will cut chip price very soon, is there any new spec on laptop come out very soon?

    Thanks very much!

I'm also thinking of buying a DV1000, so, should I wait a bit longer then?

I don't think Intel is coming out with any new mobile chips real soon. Their big changes will come in early 2006 with the dual core mobile chips. Those have some pretty nifty features. Like... turning off one core when it gets too hot. (power management).. and... somewhere along the line Intel will be releasing a chip that can do two operating systems at the same time. Not sure if that is going to be in the early 2006 release though.

Course as for incremental changes.. I'm sure prices will always fall.

No, I didn't mean new mobile chips ehubbard, I meant about a significant price drop. I heard somewhere that this or next month, Intel will be cutting prices on their chips, so I'm thinking should I wait to get a really good deal on a DV1000.

ahh.. yeah.. Intel is always cutting prices. I get bit by that occasionally.. but I always argue.. that if I wait for the prices to stop dropping... then I'll never be ready.

Course.. with back to school sales coming up..(already) .. there might be some predictably good deals coming up.

In next 2-3 months, I wouldn't wait for a drop that's more significant than back-to school which is
beginning now and may peak in 2-3 weeks.

A price cut is more likely if AMD's Turion proves to be a solid competitor in notebooks,
which probably is not true to today but in 9-12 months will be, which of course will be
when dual-core start appearing from Intel.

So if you're waiting 9-12 months or more, yes, price will drop.

Looks like a new incremental mobile chip is coming out this week. With a price drop across the lineup.
