    hello,
Just bought new HP Pavilion 6700t w/Vista Home Premium. Am noticing extremely slow wireless B speeds. Like 10-15 KBps w/my DSL. I have an old toshiba laptop w/XP that downloads @ 180/KBps. I tried removing Norton security but that didnt help. I then called HP tech support. They had me use the Norton uninstaller but still no good. Then they had me reflash the BIOS & reinstall the intel & broadcom drivers but still no good. Then they wanted to say I had a malware problem. I went and got my ethernet patchcord and hooked it up to my linksys wireless B router and was downloading @ 200/KBps. So there goes that theory I believe. When I do a speed test I'm only getting 90 kbps both up and down where i usually get 1.5/380 kbps. I would like to know if anyone has any hints about what might be wrong. HP wants to do a restoral but who wants all that crapware back on my laptop including Norton. I'm hoping it may just be a setting in Vista. I've never used Vista amd am unfamiliar with it's settings.
    thanx
    Alan

I would seriously consider upgrading to a G router. You're wasting your broadband connection sticking with the B. You can pick one up for $30 and it will be worth every penny.
