I reformatted my HP Pavilion 6 1210ej. Put windows 7 64 bit ultimate on it. None of the wireless drivers will install. It gets to the set up screen and then the installation closes. What gives?

Whats the Error Message Say when the driver wont install ? You did put in the latest Chipset drivers after reinstall didn't you ? Chipset drivers put the inf file in so the processor recognizes the hardware, wifi card, usb 3,graphics,ect No drivers will install without an inf file about it. Windows uses a generic or universal inf file, nvida, amd, broadcom, ect have there own hardware inf as an update to windows generic inf file, generally.

    Cheers

If you have problems with the Setup Installer try installing the wireless drivers manually using the Device Manager.

    - Go to the Drivers Website for your HP model.

    - Since there are four types of wireless drivers (Ralink, Atheros, Intel, Realtek) if you're unsure you can download them all for the time being.

    - Run the "SPxxxxx.exe" files and let the installer extract the contents. Make note of where it is extracting the data, this is usually stated as shown below...

You can make it easier to identify by changing the directory name where it is highlighted in blue on the picture. So instead of SP57090 you can change it to the name of the driver, so in this instance it would be "Intel WiFi". Once it had extracted the contents close down any new installation screens (exit the setup). Do this for each different driver.

    - Open the Start Orb and type in "Device Manager". Click on it once it appears.

    - Open the Network Adapters tab and find the missing wireless driver. Right-click and select "Update Driver Software".

    - Click on "Browse My Computer for Driver Software".

    - Now where it says "Search for driver software in this location" click on Browse and locate the wireless drivers you have extracted on to your hard drive. So if I was trying to install the Intel WiFi drivers I would point to "C:\SWSetup\Intel WiFi" and then click Next.

    - If it is the right one it should proceed to install the driver and prompt you once it has been installed. If it isn't, go back and select a different one (like Atheros or Realtek).

    - Hopefully you should be able to identify the correct wireless driver, you can then safely delete the redundant drivers from your hard drive to save space.

This system comes with either 7 or 8 O/S which drivers did you download? If you downloaded 8 drivers this might be why it doesn't work??
