    Hi all,
I just reinstalled Windows XP SP3 on my laptop (COMPAQ Presario 2100) after 7 years of using it without a reinstall! Things went smoothly except one thing. The wireless on/off button on the notebook does not work; I cannot use that to connect/disconnect from my network. The wireless card is working properly and is fully functional, but the button does not work. Also, the wireless light on the notebook does not update: if it is off, it remains off even when the wireless is working and i am connected to my wireless network, and if it is on, it remains on even when i disconnect from my network.

So, what I do now is to use HP Wireless Utility to turn the wireless card on/off instead of pushing the button to do it. Note that even this does not update the status of the wireless "light".

I have also installed HP Notebook Utilities and have updated the drivers for my wireless card.

Does anybody have any idea how to fix the wireless button to bring it back to the state it was before the format?

    Thanks :)
