Ok, considering all of the mac address blocks (whitelist) in the bios, has anyone found a N wireless card that will function in a recent-build (G70) HP laptop?

Or has the bios hack project found a way to edit out the bios whitelist?

Or..... has anyone found a way to reflash the MAC address on an miniPCIe card to get around the bios whitelist?

    Can try a few things:
1/ Mask pin 20 on the mini pci-e card(wireless enable). That may override the detection by the bios for wifi/WWAN card whitelisting
2/ use pcitree to write a whitelist compatible VID/FID to your non-HP wifi card
3/ Look for bios hacks to modifiy the whitelist. Depends on the specific system as HP use a number of different bios types. There' an Insyde Bios hacking method discussed on this forum. Also see this post for hacking the HP Business notebook bios whitelist.

pcitree is exactly what I've been looking for, thanks.

If I change the vid/fid of the card, will PnP detect the card hardware correctly and install the correct drivers?

    thanks!

This guy changed the VID/FID on his mini pci-e WWAN to a whitelist-know one and then it worked. You might be able to do it on your own system to if you hotplug in the mini pci-e card after bootup.
