    i hava HDX9270ee, 2.40ghz processor, 8800m GTS, 500gb hard disk, 4GB ram.

the thing is that using 1.60 version of wprime calculating pi to 32m i get 64 seconds whereas in 1.55 version i get around 32 second. WHY? i have kept the threads as 2 in both so why the difference?

    Obvious answer:
Because something in the program has changed between version 1.6 and 1.55.

Because measuring performance accurately is *extremely* difficult, and the slightest changes to the code can easily make a major difference to the performance of the program.
