i own a dv6500t. my specs are as follows:
intel core 2 duo with T7700 2.4GHz
2GB RAM
160GB HD
my question is: do i have the santa rosa plattform? because according to the CPU-Z program that i just ran, i only have MEROM... look below at my screen shot:

wasnt it supposed to say santa rosa on it?

That is a Santa Rosa platform, but I can't elaborate on why it says Merom. I'm sure others know a bit more then me.
Edit: Just looked it up, apparently Santa Rosa is the platform, and Merom is the processor am I right? -
yeah thats weird. so you have santa rosa yourself?Z
if anyone got a santa rosa platform and it actually say santa rosa on it via CPU-Z post an image of it... -
Santa Rosa is a PLATFORM not a CPU!!!!!!!!
Your system is Santa ROSA THERE WERE NON_SANTA rosa & santa Rosa versions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't make me say this again!!!!!!
[/mad_outburst] -
what do you mean "THERE WERE NON_SANTA rosa & santa Rosa versions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
i guess basically all i want to know is... DO I HAVE THE SANTA ROSA PLATTFORM? -
Yes you have the Santa Rosa Plat form which is not the CPU The CPU is Merom & if it wasn't Santa Rosa? Merom
Santa Rosa has little to do with the CPU itself all it is is a FSB increase. -
Click the 'Mainboard' tab on CPU-Z. If it says you have a 965 chipset, then you have Santa Rosa. Besides, only Santa Rosa chipsets support an 800 FSB.
-
Merom is the processor...Santa Rosa is the processing platform. They're two different things. Merom is Core 2 Duo, and replaced Yonah which is known as Core Duo.
Santa Rosa replaced the Napa platform.
So yeah, you do have Santa Rosa because your FSB is 790 MHz, or close enough to 800 MHz, which is what the Santa Rosa processing platform brought as an improvement. -
Merom is the code name for Socket P Core 2 Duos with an 800MHz FSB.
Santa Rosa is the name of the platform given to a system which fulfills the following requirements of a Merom chip, the 965 chipset, and an Intel wireless card (think Centrino).
edit: beaten to it... darn, lol. -
yes, you have Santa Rosa..your T7700 is a Santa Rosa CPU and it wont run on any Napa platform system. that's because of following reasons:
-it's using 800 MHz FSB (Napa had 667 MHz)
-it's using Socket P (Napa had Socket M)
-and some more..but I'm just too lazy to bring 'em all up here =P
..regarding your CPU showing as Merom..well current Santa Rosa-compatible CPU's are still Meroms..they just have higher FSB and use new socket =)
btw. first generation of Penryns will also use Socket P, so you should be able to upgrade to Penryn if you need it (probably after BIOS flash)
hope it helped and I'm really sorry to see pathetic people like one few posts b4 me..he couldn't even write clearly and pretends to be important....=D
cheers and enjoy your new machine!!
EDIT: damn, you got me guys.. xD -

As Mr. Eurocom hinted at, you may or may not have a Santa Rosa laptop depending on your other system specifications. Santa Rosa is merely a codename for the second generations Centrino Duo and the Centrino Pro platforms.

wtf? wasnt i supposed to have santa rosa?
