I think I may have made a stupid mistake. I'm not a gamer, and I have ordered (and received) my dv4000 with the x700. I had figured that it would just run faster for anything that I do, and it *might* last me a little longer. Now I'm just concerned that my decision to go with the x700 rather than the intel graphics just cost me battery life.
Is there any benefit to non-gamers to having the x700? I mean, I do VS.NET development, watch movies, occasional Photoshop, web browsing. Should I be experiencing such buyers regret, or will the x700 give me better performance overall?

If you want to upgrade to Vista when it comes out next year, a dedicated card is a good idea.
-
I hope you're right. However, every day brings a new announcement on what you'll need for Vista.
-
No, the video card will definitely determine how the GUI looks for you. Vista will run on integrated graphics though, just not as pretty. Aside from that though, the X700 isn't doing anything for you.

Final specs won't be available until next summer.
-
Can anybody confirm this, doesn't a dedicated GPU instead of integrated make video, and pictures look slightly better as well? Isn't it also better for Photoshop?
-
An integraded card will work fine for those. Photo editing in Photoshop tends to use more CPU and memory.
-
The GPU won't sap that much more juice when it's idle will it?
x700 or not?
