    Hi Everyone!

I was just wondering if it is at all possible to install windows xp 64 bit on my dv9500t (specs in my signature). I've had enough of vista, gave it a chance for the last 9 months or so and that is more than enough for me! I want xp!!! I thought it would be a good idea to go with xp 64 bit version, the only bad thing about this is that i just dont know where to find the drivers.. :(

I have been reading mujjuman's guide/thread ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=165319) for a long time but now i decided to go 64 bit so i cant use his driver pack, can i? Im guessing for 64 bit windows i need 64 bit drivers right? starting with the most important one, SATA driver!! Im wondering if anyone has managed to install xp 64 on a machine similar to mine but most important, where did you find the drivers??!

I'm hoping i can get it done over the weekend since i usually have very little time to do this kind of things.

One more thing, just how complicated would it be to install xp on a separate partition? as simple as creating a new partition on my c drive and installing it there? Will vista still boot? The reason i ask is because i would maybe like to try xp out and see if i can get all the components working before i delete vista for good.

    thanks!

    Alex

I'm actually going to dual boot my computer with XP-64-bit and Vista 64-bit, just because I want to be able to use DX10 and it's only available on Vista. If you are into gaming like I am and still want to be able to play games in DX10, but be able to use XP on a regular basis here is a guide on dual booting with Vista and XP:

    http://www.syschat.com/dual-boot-vista-xp-vista-already-1946.html

Also remember that you will probably have to slipstream the SATA drivers into the XP install disk that you use. You can find that information here:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=165319

    Hope this helps!

I had dual-boot XP 32 (all I have) and Vista 64 running for a while. I used one of the various guides to get it all going. Hunting down the XP drivers was a pain (my 9500 came preinstalled with Vista), but I managed to find them all (I think I still have them all saved away?). I think I did XP first and then Vista. That might have not been the recommended way, because I remember having a terrible time trying to remove XP when I realized I didn't boot up into XP all that often. I ended up paving the system and just installing Vista alone.

This is where I got most of the drivers from:

wow that would be a TON of help!! If you can do that for me i would be more than thankful!!

    Alex

Ps. I guess my main concern right now is the SATA drivers for 64 bit. Will you be including those as well?

someone provided me with a link ( http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filt...9&submit=Go!) to sata drivers which seem to have worked fine since xp64 installed perfectly.

Im having a couple issues though...

The file you included with the driver pack (from: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=165319) which explains the order in which driver should be installed says the following:

Order Which Drivers Should Be Installed:

    Intel Chipset Drivers
    Intel Matrix Storage Manager Drivers
Nvidia Forceware Graphic Drivers (Or Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Drivers)
    Realtek Ethernet Drivers
    UAA Audio Drivers
Realtek High Definition Audio Drivers WDM
    Motorola Modem Drivers
    Synaptics Touchpad Drivers
    hp Quick Launch Drivers
    Intel Pro Wireless Drivers
hp Bluetooth Drivers (Simply skip if your Laptop does not have Bluetooth)
hp Wireless Assistant (Optional, some enjoy using it)
    Ricoh 5-1 Card Reader Drivers
    Webcam Drivers
    Fingerprint Reader
    TV Tuner
    hp Battery Check

I followed it in the order stated above but i ran into some problems with two of them. "Nvidia Forceware Graphic Drivers" (nv_gfgo_101.34-2kxp32) and "Synaptics Touchpad Drivers" (synaptics-touchpad---sp35444). I took a screenshot of each error message which i have attached in this post. When i got the error for each of these i just moved ahead to the next driver in the list. When i installed them all i went to laptopvideo2go and downloaded the latest driver for xp64 with a modded inf and the installation worked with no problems, i believe my video drivers are working fine. But im still missing the synaptics one. All other installations worked perfectly even though the driver pack by mujjuman was mostly for 32 bit version of xp right? Is it terrible i went ahead and installed those drivers? will i have problems down the road? I still havent figured everything out yet since i have 3 exclamation marks in the device manager (im guessing the synaptics one is one of them).

how can i figure out what im missing?

Thanks for your help, sorry for the long post!

    Alex
