Can please someone explain where is the difference between "Home/Office desk" and "Always On" power scheme. The first one is running my C2D 2.0 ghz at 2.0 ghz on AC and 1.0 ghz on battery. "Always on" is running my cpu at 2.0 ghz on AC and battery. Does that mean that "Always On" is the maximum performance power scheme by XP power scheme manager? And is that the maximum performance there is from my notebook (cpu, HD, memory, GPU,...) and if it isn't how do I enable everything to max performance (without NHC). I'm working 95% of my work on AC power and I need as much power as possible, battery performance isn't playing any role while I'm working...
thanks for any answers

Yes, 'Always On' will set your cpu to run at max frequency. Memory, HDD should be running at maximum without the need for any other adjustments. The GPU should have its own separate power settings. Check the power settings in the control panel for the GPU. By default it will be set to run at max when on A/C & should downclock when on battery.
