I'm thinking about upgrading to a 17" screen size (zd7000). Having never worked on such a large area, will I be able to keep my browser page set, at let's say 1024px size, while being able to have another program open along side of it--alowing me to edit a web page at its actual viewing size, without having to toggle between the browser page and the editing programs?

Well, to a certain extent it depends on which screen you get. HP's highest res is this one, 17.0" WVA WSXGA+ BrightView (1680x1050). They don't have a WUXGA, which would really help you out. So if you have 1680 in width and give 1024 to one window, you don't have much left over.
