Neato. When HP makes one with an Athlon 64 instead of that P4 blast furnace, a 1920x1200 res screen for full HDTV capability (I just caved in and ordered one of these), a nVidia GeForce 6800 for Linux compatibility, and either replaces the Broadcom WiFi card with something Linux-friendly or smacks some sense into Broadcom, I might care.

(Sorry, I'm just annoyed with HP. Maybe they're waiting for the big 90nm Mobile Athlon 64 launch early next year.)

I would really have liked to see a high end Pentium M in this model. It would easily shave off a couple pounds and make the laptop cooler and thinner. On video cards, they may offer the two flagship cards in the future, but I somewhat doubt it because like the MR9800, they would both just contribute to the already troubling heat problem, even ATI which already has the solution more apt for this model.

    Compaq Presario 2800T
    Pentium 4-M 1.6 GHz - 15" UXGA
    512 MB RAM - 40 GB (5400 rpm)
ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 64 MB

Actually, the current Mobility X800 is quite a bit faster than the 6800Go. Nvidia may release a faster clocked version, but ATI is actually fastest at this point.

How does the X600 look compared to the ATI 9200 that I now have?

It must be much better I would think.

The mX600 is basically a m9700 running PICe. Memory clock ranges start from 250-300 whereas the m9700 start from 200-260 so in some areas the x600 would be faster if implemented with faster RAM. The mX800 is still vaporware and there is no sight of it in the horizon. If it does get release (probably only by Dell again) nvidia should have the 6800GoT ready :D
