I recently ordered a zd8000 because the widescreen brightview and the number pad are important for my daily use. I will be updating our small company's website but do not game at all. My question is this: for my uses (Office Apps, email, FrontPage, light photo editing) will the 64mb video card be sufficient?

Thanks in advance for you help.

Yes, in fact, that will be more than enough.

Hi! On a related issue, I'm still unclear as to whether HP plans to offer an X800 option on the zd8000. I've read a few comments on this and other forums speculating on the possibility of such an option. Does anyone here know for sure? Have you had a chance to speak to someone knowledgable at HP?

    Thanks!

I have heard nothing about an upgrade by HP at this time. However, I went ahead and ordered mine with the X600 256. I am not to concerned with the upgrade as I am sure that HP will eventually upgrade to the card. However,....I believe that now that we are using the PCI express card,....you will be able to buy this card from any vendor and do the upgrade yourself,....once the warranty period is over.
Here is a link to the ZD8000 service guide that will tell you how to upgrade or repair anything on the computer.

    http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00291986.pdf

I know that this service manual is 193 pages long. But I have printed out the whole thing. I know that it will come in handy in the future. As PCI express video cards will be here for the next few years. So I know in about two years or so,...I will want to upgrade to the then perhaps X1500 256 or so
Good luck and hope this helps.

I know just enough to be dangerous.
