Got my new zv5000* and I love it. The screen is great, even out on the porch (as long as there's some sky cover). I slipped the director's cut of Brazil in the DVD drive and playback was smooth - unlike my old Dell Inspiron 7500. The sound was OK but not exciting until I put on some Sennheiser PX100 phones (good sound, better than avarage bass, especially for an on-ear open back design - and they fold up nicely).

XP recognized the Logitech wireless laptop optical mouse as soon as I plugged it in (as it also recognized the former/factory equipment original drive in a Vantec NexStar USB 2 enclosure when ever I plugged it in). Being able to switch the touch pad on and off is a great idea; I should turn it on long enough to teach it to handle a single or a double tap.

Swapping the hard drives was a piece of cake. The driver and application restoration disks HP furnished made setting up a bare disk much less fussy than usual, once I had XP Pro and the Mickeysoft security flap disk installed. That last one said it might take ten minutes, but seemed to take 20, with no indication of cumulative progress other than the same progress bar running across in about 60 seconds, and then doing it again, and again, and again . . . a whole lot more than ten times.

But here's the rub: in my home office I want to hook it up to a KVM switch and use my big Sony monitor (a 24" wide aspect flat CRT set to 1920x1200 pixels) and most importantly my great old Northgate OmniKey Ultra keyboard. But the zv5000 has no PS2 keyboard or mouse ports, and neither does the "expansion base". Does anyone know how to make such a hookup, short of trashing yet another KVM switch box because of incompatible pointer and keyboard connections?
