I've had my zv5000 a little over a year and now, my computer starts up fine on AC power, but shortly after that, it will switch to battery power, then I have to unplug the AC cable and plug it back in so my computer will recognize, then it lasts sometimes a few seconds or sometimes a couple hours until it switches back to battery power.
This is a really annoying issue, and it baffles me as to what exactly the problem is.
Also, my battery meter says it is charged to 100%, but if I use it on battery power for about five minutes, my computer shuts down because tha battery is dead. I have the 12 cell battery and I already checked to see if it was part of the recall... it's not.
Any help from anyone would be appreciated here. Are these really the symptoms of a loose solder joint? Beacause, when I wiggle the cable, it does not affect the connection at all.

If it's the usual problem, the power plug wasn't soldered very well and you can either get HP to fix it or get a XC1000 media cable (plugs into the expansion port on the right side of the notebook) and use its power plug instead.
I suspect your battery is worn out. Get MobileMeter and check the battery wear level. Your battery is out of warranty so you'll need to buy a new one.
