Hi, I was confused with these funny codes.
My notebook case says it is zv5000 so I ordered 2GB because zv5000 can have maximum 2GB RAM. However when I checked my notebook remotely through HP homepage I got zv5235us. Here is disaster. HP customer-help says that zv5235us can support 1.25GB(256+1024 ?) maximally.
Why don't they just write correct model name on its case?
I should return another 1GB RAM as soon as possible.
By the way..Is it true that 256MB RAM inside can not be removed? I just hoped that some software upgrade may make notebook to recognize RAM more than 1GB. Who can answer for this? Thanks a lot in advance.

Zv5230us is the same as zv5000. It is part of the zv5000 series. Since you bought the laptop in retail it gets a model number zv5xxxus/ca/eu. The RAM is upgradable to 2GB. But in order to access the second slot you"ll need to remove the keyboard. This manual should explain how to access the 2nd slot...
(The picture shopwn is of the R3000 which is the compaq equivalent of the HP zv5000)

Great! great suggestion and manual!
Thanks a lot! -
One more thing to remember, your warranty might be void if you access the slot under the keyboard, since HP terms it as "not user accessible". That is why the customer help rep told you that it can only accomodate 1.25Gb RAM.
