I'm considering getting this notebook. The AMD 64 processor sounds appealing, and the price seems quite reasonable.

Since I'm planning on purchasing this notebook for college, I'm wondering what the battery life is for this notebook when it is pretty much maxed (Extra 12 cell battery)

I read the one 12 cell battery lasts about 3 hours or so, but I'm curious if anyone did a test with 2 12 cell batteries.

    Thanks!

3-4 hours on one 12-cell battery. It can't hold two batteries, but if you don't mind plugging in long enough to swap (or putting the notebook in hibernation mode), there y'go.

Then what does it mean that HP offers an extra 12-cell battery? Is this something you have to carry with you?

    Hi,

I just tested my new zv5000z with the 12 cell battery and got exactly 2 hours 40 minutes while watching a movie on the laptop power setting setting.

    There isn't a 6 cell battery for the ZV5000, only 8 and 12 cell.

I bought a zv5200z a couple of months ago and usually get about 3+ hours while watching a movie. But while using wifi it cuts down to under 2 hours. Sorry, I got the 12cell.
I would Not buy the extra battery unless you plan to use it. Its an extra expense that will degrade over time and then you will have to buy two new batts. If you travel or are going to be away from an outlet, for sure get one, but batteries will age fast. You will then be left with an hour charge on two twelve cells.
    Mike.

whats the best way to extend battery life? does it matter if the laptop is always plugged in or you have to drain it completely once in a while and recharge
