    Initial settig:
    1-year old zv5000z:

    HDD: 38 oC (5400 rpm, 80GB Hitachi)
    CPU: 42 oC

    Action:
disassembled the fan (all moving parts apart!!) and cleaned+lubricated where applicable.

    Result:
    HDD: 36 oC
    CPU 39 oC.

Simple dust removal from the fan's blades and CPU radiator had no effect. The fan must be cleaned inside and lubricated to give the improvement.
