My HP zv5346us died during a bios update. Completed successfully and even told me to restart.

Will HP replace the motherboard only or replace the whole thing?

I had the accidental damage protection with pickup and return.

    Thanks

Your jumping way ahead here by saying you want to replace your motherboard...

Could you give us more info?
What is happening when you turn on your computer ?
    Does it POST?
    Does it get to Windows?
Does it turn on at all?
    Do the LEDs turn on?
Do you see an error message?
Do you like Italian food...... :) (j/k)

Take a look at the following help articles from HP's Web-site

    1) Start-Up and Boot Problems ----> http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/documentSubCategory?dlc=en&lc=en&product=434848&lang=en&cc=us&rule=23341 -- might want to click on the one that says " Troubleshoot a Startup or No Boot Problem "

Ok, all it does is this.

Will not turn "on" unless AC is plugged in -- Battery will not turn on. Stays on until I unplug both battery and ac. Or hold down power buton.

When it turns "on" power button light stays off. the only lights that turn on are the three "hot buttons".

The screen does not light up. I performed the troubleshoting HP tech support wanted me to.

"pull ac and battery and hold power button for three minutes"
    "connect to external monitor"
