I tried finding any updated drivers, etc.... for my DVDRW drive (HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GWA-4080N) but the DVD drive listed on the HP download site is for a Toshiba the one preinstalled on my system is an LG. I emailed them about this and they said they have no update information for my drive. I looked on LG's site and I couldnt find anything there either. Any ideas about where I can get driver, etc. information about my drive?

I haven't seen anyone posting about new drivers for their optical drives. Why do you need them? Is there a particular issue you're trying to fix?

No issue yet... I just wanted to make sure that my system was up to date. This is what HP had to say:
***I understand about the confusion. Let me inform you that pavilion
notebooks are shipped with the different brand CD/DVD drives. Further, only for few brands the Firmware upgrades are available on HP Web site. zv5430us model notebooks are shipped with either Sony, LG or Toshiba CD/DVD drive. The firmware upgrade available on HP Drivers web site is only for Toshiba drive which is not installed in your notebook. The information of the Drive which you have provided in previous response indecates that your notebook is shipped with LG CD/DVD drive for which firmware upgrade is not available.***
I guess I wont NEED to get more information, I just didnt like seeing that I was supposed to have another DVD drive. Thanks though.

I have an ZV5265EA with the same dvd-rw. I use NERO for writing and I can only write dvd's at 2x and cd's at 10x. This is normal?

If it ain't broke, don't fix it! The standard windows drivers are pretty good and up to date and unless you are having some real serious performance issues, you really shouldn't bother.

I've got the same notebook and the drive -- we recently made some changes to the system (removed unneeded programs and installed another k-lite codex and the drive stopped working.
I've tried to uninstall and reinstall which gives a warning and the drive is not visible from within the system.
Any ideas how to get it working again?

It seems that your problems started when you installed K-Lite, remove it, then if that doesn't resolve the problem, do a system restore, then if all else fails, reformat.
