I ordered the zv6000 with the 64 3200+ CPU. Should I have ordered the 3500+? I was reading on this site that they are actually two different CPU's? Or could be? Or may not be? It depends on the date of the post. I ordered it on 4/12/05 and they "clerk stated they were the same, and the online help did not list anything about it. The "clerk" also did not know the difference between the 32 and 128 ram was shared or on the vid card.
I'm wondering if I should try to change the order? If that is even possible...

The 3200+ will be able to handle any task the 3500+ can & any difference will not be noticable during general(web, word) usage. The only difference will be during encoding and that sort of heavy duty stuff where there would be some difference. What I am getting to is that there wont be any significant performance improvement over the 3200+ even if they are based on different cores.(which I dont believe they are..)
The 128MB dedicated version is the one to get. The 32MB will be severely restricted in performance since it has only 32MB dedicated memory and the rest(upto 128MB) it uses from the system memory as & when needed.(a.k.a Hyper memory). The hypermemory system in the 128MB version is used only to increase memory bandwidth(someone correct me if I'm wrong)

If you can afford the 3500+ I say to get it based on the specs here

yeah, I would say the 3500+ is definitely worth the few extra $$ to upgrade. Also, the deal with the ATI 200M is that there is 128mb dedicated, and you can configure and ADDITIONAL 128mb of shared system mem on top of that. So it is essentially a configure-able 256mb card...I have high expectations that it will perform better than most people think, especially since its been produced to run exclusively with the AMD 64 chips.
Ordered mine 4/1 = day 17....it will arrive soon enough......

Maybe I should have made it clearer in my original post. I ordered the zv6000 on 4/12/05 and got the 128 upgrade but didn't know there may have been a difference in the CPU core. I assumed (we all know what that means) that they were the same and I knew the diff between the 3200+ and the 3500+ wouldn't make enough of difference to me, as this laptop will be used as a backup, for hotel use or when I have to go help someone on their home puter. If there is/was a diff in the core I would have definitely gotten the better technology, if I had known... walked in without really knowing enough about where laptops are or what even was available at this time. I saw the ad for $499 and went to check it out and well you know how it goes. Hmmm, yeah, add that, hmmm, yeah, that too . Decided to stop when it hit $945, just left off a 3500+, a larger drive and more ram, the rest was all needed. Ram and Drives can easily be added .
As it is, it appears I may have lucked out has I have been reading some more posts here and read that "namnr" has the 3200+ and has the socket 939 so even if I can't change my order I can always upgrade at some point in time, if I find the need. (He ran cpuz)
Here is a link to his posts about the 3200+ and the socket 939:

Glad to hear about the vid card, I was unaware that you can share some of the ram. Guess that means I need more ram already!
OK. New question.
Specifically, what ram is needed as I got the 512 (1x512)? I went to several site and they are not listed by zv6000 yet.
Thanx for your help,
Gary

Dpends on what you are using your machine for CRUZR, I went with an even GB because that will pretty much assure that you have all the RAM you need to run a majority of the everyday apps and plenty of software suites and games as well. Also, I'm almost positive they're using the PC3200 in them too, but upgrades like that are easy to do yourself. Also, the 939 socket in these babies are going to be well upgradeable into the future, I'd say to at least the 4000+ when they decide to release it for notebooks (which is really the P4 EE destroyer FX-53) and the ATI GPU is the first to have Direct9X capabilities onboard and feature PCI Xpress lanes for future card additions. Lots of people are talking lots of **** about the 200M, but once they start releasing add-ons here in a few months and the card shows its flexibility, I think a lot of mouths are gonna close.
zv6000 Did I mess up on CPU?
