I've been told that the zv6000 and the R4000 are the same computer but I noticed tht when when you customize them the switch from the semperon 3000 to the Athlon 3200 is $25 more. While the switch to the 32 MB video card to the 128 is $6 less. Does this make a difference in prefomance or is it just hp trying to slip in some extra charges without anyone noticing. Sorry if this is a doubt post.

Sempron 3000+ is 32 bit only while the Athlon 64 3200+ is 64 bit capable. As for the video card, the 128 version is DEDICATED memory while the 32 version is SHARED memory. In computers, the price difference between low end components isn't that much (the companies make most of their money off of the higher end components). For example, think of airlines. Most of them will make more profit from a handful of 1st class passengers (by charging more than necessary) than from the rest of the coach passengers. So don't worry, you're not getting cheated or anything.

    Hope this information helps.

I messed up on my post I meant why is the switch between those two different from the zv6000 to the R4000. The cpu upgrade is $25 more and the gpu is $6. My bad I guess I went to fast.

That's because they have different promotions running at the same time to establish a "Compaq" and "HP" brand.

keep in my mind that the Semprons in the R4000 series and the zv6000 series are 64 bit and socket 939. Also, the zv6000 has a infrared port on the front that the R4000 does not have...
