I recently purchased a zv6000 thru OD, and I got the amd sempron 1.8 gig. But when I chek in the systems under control panel, it says sometimes 548 mghtz, and sumtimes 948 mghrtz, and once it actually went to 1.79 gigs. But then I fell agen...[ :(]...anyone know anything about this? or should I go to OD and complain?

That's correct. We had lots of posts about the issue previously. CPU clock changes on the CPU load to save energy. The Windows XP's panel is not showing correct clock speed anyways and under full load your CPU actually goes to 1.8GHz.

Your computer is running fine. The clock speed changes dynamically. It will increase/decrease as & when needed(try running a cpu intensive program to see the clock speed change). If you want it to run at 1.8GHz always then change the power settings to "Always On". Default is set at Portable/Laptop. I would leave it at default as it helps in keeping the heat down and extends the battery life.

The Windows CPU speed reporting utility is broken and has been well documented in MS knowledge base. Use a third party clock speed reporting tool like Mobile Meter which will find the current speed of the processor.
