i just reformatted my hp zv6000 for the first time since new, and when i went to reinstall windows, i realised the cd xp (with service pack 2) they gave me, didn't have the serial on the back. (but the office cd did? i don't understand).

so anyway, i had to use my old version of xp (without sp2) to reformat and reinstall. now my usb ports are being read as USB1.1 not usb2.0 so i can't video edit anymore (as i need a 500GB drive)

i then installed all the driver cds they gave me, to no avail. i also ran the HP update and it said i was up to date.

so has this happened to anyone else? what do i do?

See the Microsoft Windows sticker on the bottom of the notebook.

USB2.0 support wasn't added until SP2. Have you run Windows Update to get that yet? Or just reinstall again with the HP-supplied CDs.
