Last night I charged my battery fully but on the screen battery level was 98%, I never saw 100%. May be my battery has charging problemÂ…
I started my computer on 6:05 PM and 8:20 PM battery level was again 3%, so I got this time
2-hours 15-minutes. (I used AOL w/phone line 30 min and rest of the time worked on the XL sheet). This time I didnÂ’t put the notebook on my lap, I put on the table. Heat was normal.

i have my Zx5000 on battery right now i booted it up at about 8:30 it was at 100%, and it is now almost 10:00 and my battery is at 23 % i might get about 2 to 2 and ahalf hours of battery life, im not gaming right now so its taking a while for the battery to drain. Heat is normal aswell. the right side is not as warm becuase the right Vent is not in use when only surfing the web.

Ajvett, thank you for the battery info, now I feel little better...
May be couple of more charging will fix my problem. I want to still see 100% full reading.

I was wondering if I could jump in here? Is it best to drain your battery before recharging or is that for initial charging?

If u sometimes forget that the laptop is plugged in, for several hours u need to let it drain then recharge it. thats what i did when that happened dont want to ruin the battery.

Yeah, I have to get used to this 2 and a half hour battery time on my ZX500. I noticed when you leave your laptop charging and it completes the charging indicator goes off. Does this mean it completely stoped charging? And if not is it bad to leave it charging after it is @100%. I'm curious to know if this will drain the life span of the battery.

Would it be OK to leave the battery out while plugged in?

in fact it can cause the battery to lose its Zero point after awhile, and that will shorten its life span.

In reaction to saID's post, I will more than likely have mine plugged in more than not and am now curious about the same thing.

    Bluman,
There's no problem leaving the battery out while the unit is plugged in.

    SalD,
When the light goes off or changes color, it means that the battery is full. The system will not overcharge the battery. The issue with leaving the battery in the unit 100% of the time, is that the battery will continuously be topped up after it drops to a specific level. This will lower the overall life of the battery, IMO.

I have read that it's recommended to leave the battery at 40% charge if you're gonna be removing the battery and storing it for extended periods. Well, I charge my batteries to 100% and then store them. I've stored them for months at a time without any issues. I've had the same battery for the past 3+ years and I still get full use out of it.
