I ordered and returned a R3000Z and now have a R3000T both models have the same problem. In most laptops when unpluged from the wall the battery icon is in the system tray. When you hold your mouse over it, it should tell you the % of battery left and the estamated time remaining. For the R3000T/R3000Z it dose not give the estamated life remaining...I contacted tesh support through chat and e-mail and they elevated it to the "concerned team" they never got back to me. I was wondering if anyone found a fix for this issue? I also contacted Mirosoft who tried to help and after much effort they determined its probably a hardware issue they would not fix. On my own reading I found a article about this problem on a privite site, I'm sorry to say that I don't have a link but it said that the problem was the feature was not implemented in the BIOS, I don't know if they is the case though. Anyhow I just wanted to know if anyone else is experencing this and if so have the found a fix? I know its not a big deal but the estamated life time is usally pretty close to its mark and I think its a nice feature to have.

yes, mavman I understand you had trouble with them, but complaining in every post doesn't help anyone out. Please keep your replies informative and helpful.

on my zx5000 it gives you the percent remaing, but not an estimated time. Probably because time depends entirely how you use it from then till it dies. If you start accessing the hd or optical drive a lot you will drain the battery fast, or if you just play solitare until the battery died on a dimmer setting you would get a lot longer time on that charge. Thus i think estimated time is worthless, and thats prob why its not there.

Yeah, mine doesn't give the time remaining unlike my friend's Toshiba with Windows XP either.

Personally I just watch the clock and see how long it takes the battery to drain 10 percent or so, and do the math.

I've heard of an issue, possibly with XP, that doesn't report remaining battery power correctly. I think the solutions were provided by the notebook manufacturers in either a OS patch, new BIOS or possibly a different battery. Newer batteries have a "smart" feature compared to the older batteries that tell exactly how much left compared to the older 100% for 1 hour & then drops to 50% all of a sudden. There is a new BIOS available for the R3000T CTO notebooks, it's version F.12 which came out in June. It's only for the AMD CPU's, so make sure you have an AMD CPU before doing the update.

Select your model from this LIST.

Mine is a pentium R300T so that update is not for me. Maybe I'll get lucky and the next BIOS update they will fix it.
