I like sticking to the bigger name brands like Kingston, Micron, Hynix, etc. If anything ever happens RMA processes are much smoother through those manufactures than others.
-
actually, i was thinking they ship X61s 19th.
Those bigger brand names probably drop their price? -
I thought patriot was a big name brand... I've heard of it many times at least.
-
Good for it, patriot is a pretty good brand, though not as big as omething like, say, Kingston
-
I was going through the Fry's ad today as well and saw that ad. I also saw this one for 4gb's (2x2gb) for $199. I didnt know if Patriot was a good brand or not though.

That's desktop and not laptop RAM. Patriot is a good brand. Some test have it beating many of the better known brands.
-
This is good laptop RAM. I think it even has a lifetime warranty. It's a pretty big name. My preference is Corsair, but you can't beat the price of this RAM. I had this page bookmarked: http://shop3.outpost.com/product/5247587 for 4GB of patriot RAM, but what you found looks like a better deal. I don't think they necessarily have to be "matched". Anyway, I found a new bookmark! Thanks.

Another thought. I'm pretty sure this RAM is a least on par with the Lenovo RAM, if not slightly better.
-
a better ram for santa rosa? I thought santa rosa only supports 667 mhz ram.
-
huh?
Did somebody mention something besides 667mhz? I think we are talking about one brand vs another. Like Kingston vs. Corsair vs. Patriot. Not 667mhz vs 800mhz.
Yes, santa rosa only supports 667mhz for now anyway. From what I've found if you install 800mhz RAM it will run at 667mhz. -
I thought that's what he meant.
thanks stallen. -
Oooops. It had been so long since I read the original post.
-
what's the max ram a t61 will take? anyone know off hand?
how many DIMMs, too? -
4GB total,2 DIMMs. So 2GB x 2DIMMs. You just have to keep in mind that XP and Vista 32-bit will only recognize something like 3.2GBs. XP 64-bit or Vista 64-bit will recognize and use all 4GB.
-
Really?! I thought Santa Rosa supported 800mhz... wow... so remind me again what the purpose of 800mhz RAM is? I know it's faster, but only if there's a processor that can use the speed...
Matt -
well.. i was wondering does santa rosa supports 800mhz ram. what if i have one 2GB ram 667 and one 2GB ram 800. might as well take the benefits off santa rosa.
-
huh? You quoted the answer to your question... "Yes, santa rosa only supports 667mhz for now anyway. From what I've found if you install 800mhz RAM it will run at 667mhz."
-
LOL! Yeah, that's just a little bit ironic...
-
sweet I think I might get some for my X60s
-
Great price. I hope it works with my t61.
Jeff -
because i am not sure
$99 2GB ram for 61s or not?
