when i click on webcam video,
i can see the video image for about 1 sec before it freezes,
    then a pop up says

    [Window Title]
    Windows Live Movie Maker

    [Content]
Video can't be recorded because the webcam was disconnected. Make sure the webcam is connected to your computer, and then try again.

    Learn more.

I have to manually kill the process, otherwise it'd jam the audio device.
    Can someone please advise?

*note - this is still factory-built and not a fresh reinstall*

    Thanks!

I have the exact same issue. It was happening right out of the box. If I figure anything out I will post it here.

Try running System Update to bring everything up to date.

Colonel, does it mean that you have the same webcam and yours doesn't freeze in Live Movie Maker?

I am having the exact same issue. The webcam driver itself is working correctly. I installed a trial version of some other video capturing software and was able to record a video.

From what I can gather, Windows Live Movie Maker does not support video capture from the integrated webcam. :(
