Is it possible to replace this part (user replaceable or Lenovo)?

I think the coating has come off...

Is the trackpad replaceable as a sole part or if it's part of the palm rest, I'm thinking T420i is unibody..? meaning the entire top cover is one part.. right?

    Thanks!

It's a part of the palmrest. Though, how did you manage that?

This is my father's laptop. So I'm not sure how it happened.

But isn't T420i palm rest unibody with the entire top cover?

For example, I can just remove the palm rest for my X200.. but this one looks like it's the whole body.

Does anyone know a replacement part number??

It's not a unibody. The palm rest can be removed.

If the dimple coating is spoilt you can either:

    a) Get a new Palmrest, look one eBay to see if there are spares available.

    b) Just remove the dimple coating for a smooth and easy to clean finish.

Personally I prefer option B as its cheaper and easier to maintain.
