    Hi,

I have today received my T400. As I did never have a Thinkpad before, I was just asking myself if it is normal that the trackpoint keys (left/middle/right) do make a certain noise which is more remarkable (louder) than that of the tochpad keys (left/right).
Unfortunately, I did not yet have the opportunity to check this issue with another T400 which is why I am asking for your comments and experiences.

    Thanks for your help,

    Markus

Just use it for a while, they usually wear in a little and don't click as much. But...in the end, it shouldn't be a big deal. Also the feel of trackpoint should be a markedly better navigating experience for you on a laptop :p.

While I wouldn’t call this noise, the sound that is made when pressing these keys is about as audible as my key presses on the keyboard. I’d say this sound is the same for both sets of pointers and, if anything, the ones for the trackpad are ever so slightly louder.
