So I'm writing this really quickly on my problematic W530, It's still under warranty (sending it in ASAP). config in my signature.

A few days ago I left my room with my computer running and in the middle of something. Came back a few minutes later to find it in the middle of rebooting. Thought it was weird but thought nothing of it. Took it out of my backpack in class today, tried to power on, the backlights/thinklight flash, and everything turns off. Weird. Hit the power button again. Power button flashes, then nothing.

Each time I hit the power button, it would take a seemingly random amount of time before it cut out. Tried with battery, battery+outlet, and just outlet. Same issue. Did this for a few minutes. Closed it, left it for a few minutes, tried again, no such luck. Closed it, left it for longer, tried again to show my friend what was happening, and it magically worked.

Cut to now. I know this needs to be sent in for warranty, but I'm wondering if any of you have any ideas as to what's happening. I'll be talking to our (college) computer store rep to see about warranty repair/replacement (our computer store apparently deals with lenovo) and a loaner laptop. I'll be watching this thread via my phone, in the event my laptop has issues again.

    Try this old trick:

Remove the battery, hard and media drives, unplug the AC adapter.

Press the "power" button ten times in a row, holding it down for ten seconds each time and thirty seconds the last time around.

Plug the AC adapter - but nothing else - back in and try to power on.

    Good luck.

The problem with doing this is that it's unpredictable, so I won't know if it worked or not. I'll try it though.
