    Hello,

I recently bought a displayport to hdmi converter to try and hook my W520 to my TV. I can get picture easily but I can not get my audio to come though the TV. I have read that because I have dual-mode displayport it should transfer audio aswell.

I get this under my sound but it doesn't come through the TV. Can anyone help me figure something out?

I have the same problem with my T520. In adapter specs it states that it has audio too.

I've went through and updated all my drivers so I don't think it's that, Other people state my adapter passes audio as well

I use this setup all the time, what player are you using to play the content?

Maybe it's a setting on your TV not letting the audio through.

I'm guessing it is most likely the player, need to tell it to send the sound to the display port rather then the default wave device.

Easiest way to diagnose: Click sound icon by the clock and move the volume slider all the way to max on the TV slider. Do you hear it beep? If not, then it isn't VLC. If you do, then it is VLC.

Plug in the hdmi/display port cable, and run the nvidea control panel, click on "change resolution" opetion off the display tree and make sure the "conector" is set to DHMI - HDTV (Audio Enabled)" also go to the "view HDCP status" and make sure it's good.
Next open up the playback devices and make sure the "nvidea High definition audio" is selected as default device.
Then click on the "Configure button."
This should open another window that'll let you pick the speaker arrangement and test them.
    Does it make sound?

Idk what is wrong, I'm clearly in the DP++ port not DVI. Could it be my drivers? Would running a clean Windows 7 professional without all the lenovo stuff fix anything?

Yes that doesn't look right at all, what version of NVIDIA control Panel are you running? I've got 3.8.812.0

Take a look at the "view system Topology" as well, what does it show there?

I don't think it's the computer, I think that all it's detecting is a monitor, not a TV that has sound... have you used this same HDMI port on the TV with anything else successfully, like say a PS3 or Xbox?
Do you have access to any other HDMI tv's or AV receivers? You need to try hooking it up to something else I think, just to rule out the TV.
When I plug mine into my receiver it actually tells me the (model)name of the receiver...
The adapter you linked to says it works with audio so it should, I have the startech one and it works fine...

Most likely the cable is the problem.

I know the HDMI cable work on this tv. My roommate has run his laptop off of it. I'll try it on another tv, but right now I'm thinking that it has to be the Displayport to hdmi connector.

I reinstalled windows just to make sure it wasn't something there

Ah my mistake. Thought you got a displayport to hdmi cable. Yes, it's the displayport to hdmi adapter that's the problem. It's a relatively common problem. It's highly unlikely that the problem is due to windows or the laptop itself.

Yea, try the startech one, Like I said, it works great for me. Only issue I have is that when I run at 59-60Hz my screen shifts to the left and gets cut off.
