This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    The normal way to turn your GPU on and off is to go to your BIOS, turn your W520 off and press F1 in the boot screen to toggle the BIOS Menu and look for Display then graphics in one of the tabs. If you have Nvidia Optimus enabled, you can set which programs to use the GPU in the Nvidia Control Panel.
