I can't make decisions for myself, so can someone make this for me? A 20% off coupon surfaced, USPT400CNET is the code, that applies to the T400. Should I go for it, or wait for the black friday deal? I'm leaning heavily towards going for it. It doesn't seem to stack with the Visa 5%. Any advice? I've been watching the prices for the past week or so, this seems to be the best I've seen. The specs:

    Intel Core 2 Duo Processor P8400 (2.26GHz 1066MHz 3MBL2) 25W

    Genuine Windows Vista Home Basic

    14.1 WXGA+ TFT, w/ LED Backlight

ATI Mobility Radeon 3470 with 256MB

    2 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1067MHz SODIMM Memory (2
    DIMM)

    UltraNav (TrackPoint and TouchPad)

160 GB Hard Disk Drive, 7200rpm

DVD Recordable 8x Max Dual Layer, Ultrabay Slim (Serial ATA)
    No Bluetooth

    Intel WiMAX/WiFi Link 535010

    Integrated Mobile Broadband upgradable

    6 cell Li-Ion Battery60

    2764: 1 Year Depot Warranty - TopSeller

    For $1,043.20.

Should I stay or should I go now?

It looks like a good deal, better than the CPP/EPP price at the moment. You'd actually be better off by choosing the "Enhanced" T400 than the base T400 w/ Discrete Graphics as your starting point. For $983.20 (after 20% coupon) you'd get the specs you listed PLUS the 2.4GHz P8600 processor and Vista Business (or Vista Business w/ XP Professional downgrade) for the LOWER price!!!

I also think the single DIMM Ram is the better option for a little more $$. This lets you add more ram later without having to toss the ram you already have installed.

yeah go for the single DIMM 2GB and the 9cell battery option.. I got those.. really convenient for future upgrades and mobility. I didn't get the Wimax though.. think about it.. unless you got a Wimax router or N router, you're wasting money on it. It doesn't really boost your internet access speeds either cos it's dependant on your internet plan.. and unless your house is like 4000 sq ft.. you're unlikely gonna stretch the limits of your home router.

Call to see if they'll stack the deal. It won't happen through the site. Also, buy the 2gb dimm. Generally buying extra memory is cheaper as an extra. That's a great price. If the price goes down even more you've got price protection for 21 days or something.

Just to let you know -- WINXP doesnt support switchable graphics in the OS -- you have to reboot -- id almost suggest sticking to WinVISTA for that feature!

So if I bought a T400 with Windows XP the switchable graphics option would be basically useless?? Where did you find this info.

That's what linux is for :)

P.S. --> Save a price quote. So if they don't offer a better deal, you won't be screwed with a crappy 15% off.

Can you claim the price quote even if that coupon expires? I am in the same boat.. about to buy a T400 but just not sure if I should wait until Black Friday/Cyber Monday.

If you need a computer, then buy it. Otherwise, if you don't need one right away then wait as long as you can. Patience = low prices

Any idea how long this coupon lasts? Can't you configure the laptop with this coupon, save it, and still receive the discount even if the coupon has expired in a certain amount of time?

Two months ago I paid that amount for the same laptop, except:

    I got 4GB RAM, webcam/fingerprint reader, and a 9 cell battery.

I thought I got good deal, and after two months, I think the T400 is a great value.

You got the Wimax option and 3 year onsite warranty, which is nice. I priced out the warranty, and that would have been about $300 more.

So essentially, the price has dropped over the past two months. If I didn't already have one, I'd buy another. :)
