2GB DD2 667 detected as 533...

Just got a pair of Crucial's 2GB DDR2 667 and installed it on my Y300. To my suprise, opening up CpuZ only shows that it is running dual channel at '266' and at 1:2, not '333'.

Anyone knows why? Still a newbie to Notebooks and wished that there's a divider settings in the BIOS.

Any suggestions?

What notebook do you have. Sonoma motherboards for example support up to 533 MHz.

Post more specs please.

 

Hmm, didnt know that. Btw, the Notebook is a Lenovo L3000 Y300 9449 44A. The mobo is a 945GM chipset and the CPU is is a T2350 1.86GHz Yonah. Pls take a look the CpuZ shot below and kindly advise. Thanks!

Now that Ive seen the thread, it seems my Core Speed reading is only 798Mhz or so. And this is with the AC Adapter minus the battery. It does move to 1862 sometimes but its always hovering at 798.

I think Im gonna look for SuperPI now!

 

It does that to save battery power. If all you have open is CPU-Z, there is no reason for your proc to be rockin' at full tilt.

 

But zerooooooo, the battery isnt even on the Notebook (I had it removed). Is this normal?

 

I don't know for sure. I'm not sure how the power management works, specifically.

 

Zero, no matter what the notebook will underclock itself when it is not under stress. This happens regardless of whether a battery is present or not. Intel made the feature always on to conserve power and heat. You shouldn't worry about it. My notebook does it too. It's a feature.

One final thing though, is the system supposed to run at 533Mhz esp the Memory, not 667?

I believe so, yes. You are running on a Core Duo CPU, which only has a 533MHz FSB.
