Any R61's configured @ $750+ cancelled? Please post here

Trying to put a likely pricing/cancellation scenario together. Please post config if over $750, include cpu & battery cell selection

Mine is stilll good, no email...status ok 8/30 ship date..t-5470 6 cell w/camera

 

$750 + should be good to go. I think the $500 ones are getting canceled. Although I really don't understand the logic. I mean you either have the T5470 in stock or you don't. And if you don't everyone's should be canceled because Lenovo simply cannot make that CPU.

So the whole excuse Lenovo is using is flawed, if you do get yours that is.

 

I don't think its a stock issue. Lenovo actually says they don't offer it on the R series, so if somebody gets theirs, heads will roll!

 

The magic # seems to be around $750...What about the ones that have shipped?

 

I called and spoke to lenovo CSR and told her that my R61 configuration is about $117 less than a similarly configured Dell since my R61 was coming to $661 and Dell was $778 and Dell was offering Vista business (no premium option), not like I was ripping off Lenovo or others that had similar configs. She did understand my point though which was nice for once. Strange that I never recieved a 10% discount email offer either even thoug she said I should've recieved one. Oh well, lets see when I call them tomorrow to check on their offer.

 

Were you offered the same config at a higher price To make up for the "glitch"

 

no, she just said I have time until friday if I want the 10% discount and will need to call with my case number. I cannot seem to get on lenovo's laptop config webpage. Is everyone else having a problem as well.

I received a cancelation email also this morning. But my bank account showed that I was charged this morning. It was shipped 7/31 and the UPS online shows estimate delivery date 8/6. My configuration:

What the hell? Lenovo is doing something really wonky, trying to claim T5xxx CPU's aren't offered. I hope you guys kick their ass.

 

Well, if you recieve it then consider yourself very lucky and congrats! I just got an email from FTC saying they will contact me soon so lets see. In the meantime I am looking at a Lenovo 3000 which has a better processor, higher res screen, vista business and is about $90 some dollars more than what I would've paid if I had chosen it with the R-61 even under that "glitched" deal, so life isn't so bad afterall.

 

I mean, right now I'm confused. Was my order cancelled or not?

 

If you can track the package, then it wasn't cancelled and you are one of the first people to receive the R61 with a T5xxx.

 

The only way to find out is to call them but then according to some members, if you call you will get your order canceled for sure, so it's up to you.

 

No reason to call if the package is shipped.

 

As of last night, you could order a R61i with the T5xxx option? This makes no sense.....Has anyone heard of a T5470 that has shipped?

That could mean anything, but most importantly: No discount on expedited shipping, as the cause "was out of our control"

 

That could be Lenovo asking UPS to hold the shipment.

Yep. The language he used, his absolute first post being about his R61 being canceled, and the interest in using a squirrel-themed avatar were unmistakable. Of course, he couldn't imitate my profile completely a second time because that would've been even more obvious.

THat's just customs, nothing to do with Lenovo tracking your shipment down. I've had it on every shipment from lenovo, every one has been delivered a day earlier than scheduled.

Did you happen to glance over the fact that the shipment is now heading back to China?

 

Seems kinda dumb for them to recall the laptop... not only are you pissing off customers, but you're also wasting a ton of money shipping stuff out and then recalling it back to China.

I'm gonna start looking for good deals on something non-Lenovo. Hopefully they'll refund my credit card quickly.

 

Not exactly. Companies like Lenovo that sell stuff online have contracts with shipping companies like UPS or DHL that account for all shipments. In other words, it's a set price for all shipments, and the shipping companies benefit because of exclusivity.

 

R61 T5470 Shipped Today!!!
For all of those who ordered this and show a ship date towards the end of the month, mine shipped today 8/5! The website had it est to ship 8/30.

No CPU listed in the invoice that was emailed. Not sure if they upgraded CPU to T7xx, is there any way to tell? By Serial # maybe?
