    Anyone having problem with T400 optical drive ? LOUD NOISES FROM OPTICAL DRIVE!!

    I have had it with my brand new thinkpad t400 laptop :mad: . Lenovo sent me a second optical drive and it still making loud , buzzing, whineing in and out,slightly shaking noise. What the heck is going on. This happens when I watch a movie (original dvd) not pirated. It's unacceptable for it to continue making that sound.

    The funny thing is it doesn't always happen all the time. For example:I could be watching the same movie today and nothing happened then i could be watching it the next day and it will make that funny loud noises.

    They are sending me a third optical drive and if this doesn't fix this problem , I have no choice but to return it.

    Anyone having the same issue ?

    Did you try changing the drive speed to Normal / Silent in BIOS?

    the first time i used my optical drive (importing a cd) on my new T400 it was perfectly fine but when i used it today to install office 2007 i noticed it was extremely loud, in fact much more so than previous laptops. did you just call lenovo and they sent a replacement for free?
