I recently purchased my T61p about 2-3 weeks ago. Recently I get the blue screen with the error" DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL... What does this mean? My specs are : C2D 2.6, 4gb RAM, Vista business 64bit, 200gb HDD. Please help me.

It's usually a driver issue. Did it provide any file names? It's either a driver issue or bad system RAM.
-
No, thats all that I saw under it. It would be a shame for this system too have this problem already. Any ideas on what I can do to permanently fix the problem?
-
You sure it didn't say something like this?
-
I have no idea lol. it goes by way to fast for me to check it all. If it did say the above what can I do? Ill be back on the forums in about an hour because of traveling. Thanks for help

If you hit F8 you should be able to tell the PC to stop rebooting when you get an error. Or if you can make it into safe mode, modify the computer's properties and change the recovery options not to reboot when an error occurs so that you can read it.
You can't troubleshoot what you can't see. -
Atapi relates to Sata Interface or your DVD. Tied in with that may be Turbo if you're running Vista. There were driver updates for that I believe.
-
that wasn't his error - he hasn't posted what driver it was yet.

Renee, that wasn't the OP.
Unless you're not referring to that, then yes, you're right. It seems related to Turbo Memory.
OP, do you have that? -
Don't know. Hasn't happened again. It's weird, it happens sometimes when I reboot the system

1. Change the settings to keep your PC from rebooting when you BSOD.
2. Check your event viewer in SYSTEM events and APPLICATONS events for the same error.
One of these should give you enough information to either report back or Google with. -
Ark nailed it, it's generally drivers. If it's happening repeatedly, try to write down as much of the error as you can and search the MS KB for a match.

I remember when my T61 was brand new and I played Oblivion with it. Everytime I would go to exit the game, I would be confronted with a Blue Screen that said this error also, but I am not 100% sure. Once I disabled Sonic DLA via right-click optical drive/properties, the problem disappeared.
To OP, if this problem persists, you can try to disable Sonic DLA and see if that helps. -
Did you recently change your system to 64bit yourself? I am thinking Intel Matrix.

I'm not sure if that is a RAM message but you can try to reseat the RAM. Doub't that it is loose because the clips are tight but worth opening the case and taking a look if you feel comfortable with such things. You will need a set of jewlers screwdrivers. Available at Wal-MArt for $4.99. Like your machine, they tools are mass produced with poor quality control in China but they serve the purpose.
