Mr.KL please stop your speculation and your insults toward Australia...... the laptop package all have ANZ tagged on the case and were delivered during September-2009. Don't pretend to be an expert when you have no idea what you are talking about, or is petty insults the only thing you are good at?

In support of the OP's case, here are some pictures of the T400s I said which arrived in a similar condition and was subsequently returned. Clearly, this has occured more than once.

All the R500 in that sale had the box opened, and for $899 dollars i don't know what more people can complain about for a new machine, even if the box is opened. There is no such thing as a free lunch, there is probably a good reason why the laptop was cheaper than usual, but given the fact that people got this particular thinkpad for half of the price they would usually pay for, i think the box opening can be forgiven.

Also, sealing the laptop box with new tapes and security tab is not a good measure given that the laptop box has been opened after leaving the factory, at least in this case we know the laptop box is opened and have a chance to question what is done. Or is opening the case and then sealing the case with the original Lenovo sticky tape, and passing it on to you as brand new and unopened, make you feel better, for not knowing what has been done the laptop?

Some people say ignorance is bliss, but i don't think it is for this case.

Many computer stores in Australia, open the game packaging up play with the softwares or games, then reseal it and sell it as new, and most buyer don't even know it...

    they installed wrong OS!

supposed to be Vista Business, but the installed Vista Home Basic.

now i need to wait for the recovery disc to arrive before using the notebook. a waste of my time and warranty. plus i bought the full accidental coverage... what a waste.

yeah i think they should to. certainly it would be best if they give a reason for the sale.

thank you very much for that chris!

where about did you buy the notebook? (lenovo website/telephone, authorized retail shop)

    is it on sale?

you spent more money on it i'm sure. so your lost is bigger. i suppose.

usually they will overnight express the recovery media. I got mine the next day after the delivery was arranged.

Bra, loosen up. I'm a big fan of AUS culture. Olivia Newton John and Crocodile Dundee. Have also watched Captain Kagaroo on public TV a long time ago.

Oh I see, well in that case, you will still keep the laptop right?
You can use it now with the current OS to see if there's any problem, and when the Disc come, do a clean install.

    woah, sweet.

however, i still hasn't got mine yet.

ah well... i had tooth extraction today and next week... so i'm out of action for a while...

yeah, i decide to keep it.

this notebook is for my sister.

i can't really be bother installing all the software as of yet. i've played around with it.. all seems in order. except for the problem mentioned (wrong OS). umm.. i've noticed that there is a fingerprint that is not mine on the screen. screen looks fine. haven't noticed a dead/stuck pixel. there was one possibility although it most likely a left over glue/dust from the factory..

fingerprint is common, because people whom build and test the machine don't wear glove they have electrostatic discharge wrist strap.
