If so, what hardware do I need (aside from the HDTV)? Will just a wireless broadband card and the appletv device do the trick?

wow, broken english, you got the gyst. It was late and I was using my tablet, didn't proofread :) So Apple TV gets configured on your wireless network with its SSID/Key and so does your laptop. Your iTunes should see the Apple TV on the network and you can sync the two. The Apple TV can stream from I believe 6 librarys and will only sync with one. Essentially, you can sync it once and take it offline/anywhere if you want. It's a neat device. Requires a HiDef TV with component or HDMI inputs and I believe 720 minimum.

Thanks. I really appreciate your time in responding to this.

You mentioned my "wireless network". So if I have the x61 laptop (with base) which has a mobile broadband wireless card, I still need to set up a netowork in my house? Like with apple airporter through my landline cable internet?

You need to get them on the same network, actually subnet, somehow... Wired or Wireless. Your mobile broadband won't cut it, as you'll be on a different network subnet. I had to redo my subnets to get the apple tv and my machine on the same subnet... silly itunes restriction brought to you by our friends in the music industry.

Wow, ok. Sounds like it is possible, I just need to play around with it (and form a network with my landline DSL). Thanks Guru.
