If you you have the right product key it'll work. My x61 came with the 32 bit version of Vista Business. I was able to get an oem copy of vista 64 bit and use my old product key to activate it.

If I'm understanding you correctly you want to buy an OEM copy and install it? if so you shouldn't have any trouble

Yes, you should be able to. From my understanding all versions of Vista 64 come on the the 64 bit Vista discs. However, since you have paid for the Vista Business key you can only install Vista Business(either 32 or 64 bit).

Maybe you should wait for Windows 7 instead of buying another copy of Vista. Then you can install a better operating system instead of Vista. ;)

No, I already have Vista Business 64 on this laptop but want to do a clean install instead of the recovery from Lenovo with all the extras that I don't need. I was wondering if I can use a different version of Vista 64 to install Business. My friend has an Ultimate 64bit OEM disc that he bought and can lend me. Do you guys think I can use that disc to install Business 64bit onto my computer?

That's a good question. I would say the answer is no. I'd at least match versions.

Yes, you should be able to. As I said above I believe all versions of Vista come on each disc. This is definitely the case with the "Anytime upgrade" disc and should be the same for the OEM disc as well(I did a clean install of Vista Business 64 from the 64 bit anytime upgrade disc successfully and all versions of Vista 64 were on it). No matter what version is printed on the disc(ex: Ultimate, Basic etc) there are 2 types of discs, ones that contain the 32 bit version and ones that contain the 64 bit version. The only restriction is that if your key is for Vista Business then you must install Vista Business(either 32 bit or 64 bit is allowed with the same license key).
