    Hello all...

So today I turned on my T400, and the screen was in a low-res / VGA mode.

Up popped a request for a driver, the ATI Catalyst driver manager also warned me that it couldn't find the ATI driver, etc. I tried to let windows install whatever driver it wanted, but it said it couldn't find one.

I rebooted, and I was back working again.

It *appears* that the integrated graphics had been enabled randomly (this had never happened before, and I hadn't changed any BIOS settings)... that in itself is unsettling.

In any case, I decided to try to use the integrated graphics on purpose. So I enabled them on purpose in the BIOS, rebooted, and the same thing happened as before (couldn't find the driver).

I've searched here and elsewhere, and have found nobody who has mentioned what driver I'm supposed to get in order to make the integrated graphics work. Anybody know this? It doesn't seem to have been included in this install at any rate.

I also notice that when I'm running in discrete graphics mode, no other video card appears in the Device Manager... I don't know if this is expected or not.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    - Tim

Okay, I found it; I had to go onto the Lenovo website and find the driver matrix for the T400 and download the Intel G45 driver.

I'm surprised it didn't come preloaded on this machine (granted, I did a clean and restore from the recovery partition - perhaps it USED to be loaded :) ).

I'm surprised that the Lenovo System Update utility didn't try to get that driver, either; perhaps I had to run it in Integrated Graphics mode in order for it to know that it had to get it? I ran System Update after installing the drivers by hand and rebooting, and it didn't try to download them. Hopefully that's only because there was no need for an update, and not because it never sees that I might need them. :-/

Has anybody with hybrid graphics who is running XP ever gotten System Update to download the Intel integrated graphics drivers?
